betcha’fckn’wnt:
an exploration in guided mischief
Creator, Performer
Along with collaborator Will Kiley, I devised, co-directed, and recorded betcha’fckn’wnt: an exploration in guided mischief (2018). This audio experience led audiences on a solo journey through the Fine Arts Library at the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout each of the six parts of the piece, the mysterious, bodiless characters asked listeners to complete increasingly personal and exposing tasks. At times sickly sweet and at other times eerily manipulative, the voices in betcha’fckn’wnt challenged common practices of how to responsibly scaffold audience participation. Yet with no physical performers or fellow participants, individual audience members were firmly in control of if/how they participated at every point of the experience.
Listen to “A Shimmy,” the fourth part of betcha’fckn’wnt which took place on this bridge.
